Mother, teacher, non-traditional student finds passion in special education

Lorie Lee never imagined she’d make it to university; she is now graduating with two degrees, having won the prestigious President’s Prize. A mother of three and non-traditional student, her inspiring tale begins earlier than her first day at NAU. A Northern Arizona University (NAU) professor recently received a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to develop a new course for elementary education majors. The course, which will be piloted in the 2022/2023 school year, focuses on teaching the science content students will need to succeed in their own teaching.

COE student Anna Barrett receives Fulbright Award

Northern Arizona University graduate Anna Barrett is the recipient of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award and will head to Asia for a year to further her education and immerse herself in South Korean culture.

Barrett majored in elementary education with additional majors in history and sociology. She also graduated with a Gold Axe Award, which recognizes students for their dedication and commitment to academics as well as service to the NAU campus… Read more
