The department of Comparative Cultural Studies brings together multiple academic disciplines into one unit, allowing our majors to explore and develop a deep understanding of the human experience through courses in Art History, Asian Studies, Museum Studies, Public Humanities, and the Comparative Study of Religions. Majors in the B.A. in Comparative Cultural Studies usually specialize in at least one field through completion of a minor but all of our degree plans enhance your learning experience through required classes in multiple areas.
In addition to these core fields of study, our department offers a unique opportunity for engineering and business students with a first major in the Interdisciplinary Global Programs (IGP) to complete a second major in Asian Studies. Students in the IGP programs gain valuable language experience and the skills offered by all of our courses (critical thinking, critical reading, effective writing, civil discourse, and cultural awareness), producing highly competitive future employees for the twenty-first century market.
Our Museum Studies minor complements our emphases with real-world experience in exhibition design and development, grant writing and arts marketing, digital humanities projects, and much more. Students frequently graduate with experience gained through projects developed in classes and during internships with a variety of local arts and cultural institutions, which when combined with their major courses, result in greater employment, grant, and graduate study opportunities.

Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Cultural Studies, Asian Studies-Integrated Global Program
The BA in Asian Studies-Integrated Global Program is offered for students with a first major in the Interdisciplinary Global Programs (IGP). It requires 16 units of an ASN language (Japanese or Chinese), 9 units of CCS, and 24 units of Asian Studies.
